Competencies

ResponsibiliTies

To lead a team of recruitment managers to attract the region's best students (whether fee paying or to offer scholarships) whom possess the necessary qualifications and aptitude so that they are equipped to improve governance and contribute to the communities they choose to serve upon graduation

  • Aligned with the school’s purpose and organizational goals as well as with the requirements of the admissions team, develop a distinct strategy to capture the right student mix for the school which may include the following components:

    1. Market and Customer Insight

    2. Customer Decisioning Journey Model / “sales funnel” for the school

    3. Market-based Strategy

    4. Customer Engagement Model / Plan

    5. The ‘Last Mile’ Strategy

    6. Resource Allocation

    7. Leadership, management and development an integrated recruitment & admissions process

    8. Develop and implement a professional and efficient operational plan for student

    9. Recruitment and admissions in line with the school's mission and vision

    10. Work closely with the Associate Director of Marketing & Communications on marketing and branding of programmes for the purposes of recruitment and admissions

    11. Work with key stakeholders to deliver an effective and efficient 'Marketing-Engagement-Recruitment-Admissions' (MERA) process to ensure that the school attracts students of high calibre for the scholarships available as well as a quality pool of fee-paying students.

    12. Represent the Student Recruitment Unit at committee and management meetings

    13. Regular and systematic analysis of recruitment and admissions strategy, tactics and data to be presented to the Management Committee.

  • Build strategic networks in our target markets to build a sustained pipeline of quality students

  1. Develop a strategic influencing map of the target markets by identifying key partners such as international organizations, government ministries and agencies, non-govt organizations, private corporations and foundations as well as strategic channels including private education partners.
  2. Lead negotiation and networking efforts to engage these partners to create, agree and execute a strategic partnership for the purpose of building a long term pipeline of students for the School.
  3. Sustained and early engagement of potential students - to be managed within the school's Customer Relations Management (CRM) system and to work with other internal stakeholders and in-market resources (such as our partners) to engage them and move them further down the sales funnel.
  • Leadership, management and oversight of the Student Recruitment Unit's budget
  1. Lead in the development of a budget plan, which includes student recruitment, selection, yield campaign and relevant channel partnerships
  2. Oversee and manage the Student Recruitment Budget
  • Human Resource Development

    1. Lead, manage and develop work plan for all staff in the student recruitment unit

    2. Lead and manage the performance appraisal for staff in Unit

    3. Manage and coordinate leave and work load for all staff, including work travel assignments

    4. Conduct regular in-house training for the Student Recruitment Unit, Admissions Team and the wider External Affairs and Marketing Division to upskill and improve staff knowledge in core areas such as market & consumer insights, marketing & sales tactics and business management.

  • Leadership in the development of a collaborative work environment and strong external relationships

  1. Work closely with senior colleagues such as the Dean, Vice Dean, Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, Head of Academic Programmes, Deputy Directors, Associate Directors of Academic Affairs, Executive Education etc.
  2. Maintain effective relationships with external stakeholder groups, academic Institutions and partners
 
Experience
